On 30 March this year the Finance Ministry set up a working group to draft proposals for the use of supporting documents in an electronic environment. Besides officials from the Finance Ministry, the State Revenue Service and other government agencies, the working group has representatives from various associations and industries, including PwC.
The primary task of the working group is to revise outdated clauses of the Accounting Act and bring them into line with the legislation on electronic documents.

Latvian Cabinet Rule No. 570 of 27 June 2009 regarding the single EU trader registration and identification number applied from 1 July 2009. This rule implemented Commission Regulation (EC) No. 312/2009 of 16 April 2009 amending Regulation (EEC) No. 2454/93 laying down provisions for the implementation of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2913/92 establishing the Community Customs Code. Both the regulation and the rule primarily aimed to facilitate the registration of persons that carry out customs procedures by granting them a single registration number recognised across the EU.
